Though i agree lag increases on these weekends, the lag is also concentrated to one area. Therefore, just avoid these problem spots as much as possible. Go explore a remote area. Or go questing for the sake of questing.
Remember that showing up say in Shing Jea is a personal decision. ANet can only open up "X" many districts. If you think the lag is a headache for you, consider how much of a migraine it is for the ANet employees managing the Servers O.o

Nope, I've been lagging all over, not just in one area.

Pings of 60,000+ earlier!
On a 8MB MaxDSL line and everything else is working perfectly fine, just not GW! It's OK though as Support say there's nothing wrong, so we must all be liars!

I didn't have any lag trouble the first time this event came around, but now I'm getting spiked (lost a lead in Dragon's Nest because of one) off and on and the load between some areas is horrific.
I just hope this isn't a precursor to the GWEN preview. When the Nightfall preview event was running, I was finding myself in spots where I was hit with bleeding, poison, etc. effects and the lag was so bad that I'd just bleed out before I could heal it. It was horrible.

Last night i got a couple of 130k+ pings in the northlands and a few areas of pre-ascalon (thus, another day of deathleveling lost ¬¬*)
Since i have played through the dragon event and several weekends before without trouble, i would think that the ulgy amount of lag has something to do with the last update and maybe network problems (i mean, it started right after i updated :/)

Lost my survivor last night when the even started up and I lagged into a group of mobs. Decided to take the weekend off the game, makes it easier that way and I wont risk losing another survivor.

I appreciate your comment, but this is everywhere for me and several Guildies (all in different parts of the U.S. and Canada... and different time zones and service providers) I'm not going to go adventuring out of Maguuma(?) Stade just because it's slightly less laggy than other places though. Like someone said before, the irony is anet redux'd the event because of the terrible lag the last time. Well..... it's back. In a big way.

Btw - anyone else STILL suffering from lag?
I played two RA and one Aspy game today and in all three matches I had lag spikes of 6k.
(And I think it's worse then yesterday - at least yesterday once players got in (IF they did!) they seemed to play normally (as normal as W/A assassins are ))

@Upier: Same here, I lost in 6th game (ggg....) because I had a 2-minute lag, which ended in a err007. They said it was because of the high temperatures... D'oh my butt.
I guess that there will be ANOTHER dragon redux... But I guess I'll be playing Fury again.

closing uw/fow just to prevent lag is nonsence, we had a 207 minute favor at a certain point even lol.
the lag was kinda lame, but i got the most lag as the prizes were dropping, and once they stopped dropping the lag would quickly vanish.
auto asign to hard on the gw servers?
